What we say -

The Thule 972 arrives ready assembled and takes only a few seconds to fit to the towball, using the supplied spanner.

It can carry up to 3 cycles, which are secured to the bike rack using stretchy rubber straps at the top and a fabric strap to go around the frames of the bikes lower down.

Tilting is relatively easy by releasing a lever on the side and then lifting a handle to allow the frame to tilt, complete with bikes loaded. We would advise that this operation is best carried out by two people, one to suppport the weight of the bikes and the second to operate the release mechanism. The bikes are lowered to the ground.

Due to this rack having a built in tilt mechanism, there is a small amount of freeplay present in the supporting frame. This is not a problem, but some people prefer the Thule 974 which is essentially the same carrier, without a tilt mechanism, and is more rigid.

The Thule 972 can be secured against theft by using the Thule 957 lock. 

Storage isn't too great a problem as the 972 folds flat quickly and easily by turning the two side locking handles.
